To do well in this role you should be well organized and have good multitasking experience. We support cross training and encourage growth in all our co-workers. As a Machinist at LMI Machine Group, you'll join a friendly, motivated team producing high-quality parts for assembly. You'll ensure all processes are followed, producing parts within spec and on time. You'll work closely with your manager and co-workers to understand routine maintenance, part changeovers, and inspection. Success in this role requires organization and multitasking. 

The Machinist is responsible for ensuring all processes and procedures are followed to produce high quality parts. The duties performed must be within the time allotted to meet specifications. The Machinist is responsible for all aspects related to the delivery of products.

  • Setups for new and previously manufactured components – all activities associated.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.  
  • Capable of providing input on design for manufacturability.
  • Provide input on fixture design, program edits, tool reduction/improvements on all programs to improve cycle time and optimize throughput on equipment.
  • Read drawings and execute appropriate inspection procedures to ensure part specifications are being met. This includes good working knowledge of GDT dimensions and what/how to measure accordingly.
  • Create inspection plan and part documentation to ensure ongoing future production.
  • Training and handoff activities associated to ensure the operator will run a job successfully.
  • Serves as a mentor to developing apprentices and machinists.

Education and Qualifications

  • Machinist with experience in milling and turning. Horizontal, 5 Axis and live tooling lathes experience preferred.  
  • As we run complex multi-pallet equipment, and have developed processes that support it, the ability to think broadly and critically is important.  
  • Ability to communicate ideas & requirements clearly, concisely and effectively, both orally and written.
  • Excellent multi-tasker
  • Gibbs programming knowledge preferred
  • Additional post-secondary mechanical designation preferred.
  • Open to learning new ways of doing things/technologies to improve the success of the LMI Team.
  • Organized, attentive to detail, and excellent time management skills.
  • Can work well in a team environment.

Salary Range: $57,018 to $74,100 + Eligibility for Profit Sharing Program Participation (pending successful completion of probationary period and based on business performance)
