What will you do as a Manufacturing Technologist?
LMI Technologies is a leading provider of innovative 3D vision solutions. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled RMA Service Technician to join our growing team in Suzhou, China. This role is crucial in ensuring the timely and efficient processing of returned products, maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction, and contributing to the overall success of our service operations.
The RMA Service Technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and testing of returned LMI Technologies products, primarily focusing on 3D vision systems and related components. This involves troubleshooting complex technical issues, identifying faulty components, performing repairs, and ensuring products meet quality standards before being returned to customers. The technician will also maintain accurate records of all RMA activities and contribute to process improvements.
- Receive, inspect, and triage returned products (RMA) to determine the nature of the defect, often involving sophisticated optoelectronic and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and/or software issues using diagnostic tools, technical documentation, and specialized LMI resources.
- Repair or replace defective components, ensuring adherence to LMI Technologies quality standards and procedures. This may include working with lasers, optics, and precision mechanics.
- Test repaired products to verify functionality and performance according to specifications.
- Accurately record all repair activities, including parts used, time spent, and the resolution of the issue, in the RMA system (Netsuite).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety regulations, especially concerning laser safety.
- Collaborate with other team members, including customer service, engineering, and quality assurance, to resolve customer issues and improve product quality.
- Identify and escalate recurring product issues to the Quality & Operations teams.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and ensure proper storage and handling.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures related to RMA processing, quality control, and safety.
What do you need to be successful?
- Diploma or equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Optics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in electronics repair or a related technical field, preferably with experience in RMA processing. Experience with optoelectronic systems is a significant asset.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for complex hardware and/or software issues.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment, including experience with optical measurement equipment a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese & the ability to communicate in English.
- Experience with 3D vision systems, lasers, optics, or related technologies.
- Knowledge of quality control methodologies and procedures.
- Familiarity with LMI Technologies products.
