DevOps Team Lead
LMI Technologies is looking for a J.E.D.I. to join our team as an DevOps Team Lead to accelerate our AI driven operations (AIOps) and automations. In this role, you will not only manage our cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, but also lead the integration of tools that automate code checks, predict deployment failures, and optimize cloud costs.
Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the DevOps Team Lead will work out of our Burnaby headquarters and work closely with other members of the IT team to continuously improve our internal applications, tools, culture, policies and processes to help accelerate our business.
The ideal candidate will be curious and agnostic when it comes with technology. They will view AI as a strategic tool for DevOps and is comfortable with constant changes to help bring value for the organization. The DevOps Team Lead will lead a team that ensures that our developers - diverse in cultures and across different time zones - are in a position to excel at their respective roles with the right Dev tools and processes at their disposal.
DevOps Leadership
- Lead the design, implementation and management of CI/CD pipelines for internal teams
- Lead the architecture of cloud environments using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Work with the Security team to ensure that AI tools are secured using industry best practices
- Execute long term strategies for the DevOps team that aligns with business objectives
- Manage cloud expenditures and ensure that resources are “right-sized” with demands
- Identify and implement new tools, automations and processes to improve the business
- Identify and implement training programs to maximize technical staff’s expertise in tools
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with technical stakeholders
- Conduct reviews with internal customers to improve service, performance, integrations and automations
- Utilize insight from projects and tickets to continuously find improvements
- Work with the IT Infrastructure team to ensure delivery of DevOps services that meet SLA’s across geographic regions
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor and foster a culture of curiosity, empathy, urgency, and technical excellence

- Ability to see the "big picture" of how AI, code, and infrastructure interact
- Wisdom to know when to use traditional tools vs AI ones
- Define, monitor, and meet KPIs and SLAs related to DevOps
- Identify and implement programs to enhance the teams’ skills
- Identify areas and collaborate with others to improve systems, security and processes
- Lead the evaluation of industry trends and implementation of best practices that fit the organization’s needs
- Act as an escalation point to swiftly resolve critical issues and incidents
- Contribute to dashboards, budget plans and reports
- Author documentation including SOP’s and technical documentation
- Uphold and enforce IT, privacy and cybersecurity policies
- Perform other duties as required
Education and Qualifications
- Combined 10+ years of experience in a DevOps, software development, software quality assurance role and/or related education
- 3+ years of experience in a team lead role
- Master of Bamboo, Jenkins, Bitbucket and other popular Gits
- Expert level knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP (preferred)
- Experience with Kubernetes (K8s), Terraform and Ansible
- Experience with Jira, Jira Service and/or equivalent
- Experience or a demonstrated high aptitude with AI tools such as Claude Code
- Experience with setting up AI tool boundaries and/or automated security checks for libraries
- Experience with security for embedded systems is an asset
- Python, Go, Rust, CMake
- C/C++ build environments
- Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer (or equivalent)
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (nice to have)
- Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (nice to have)
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong initiative, sense of curiosity and self-motivated
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse cultures and backgrounds
- Professionally fluent in communicating with English
Salary Range: $73,900 - $105,410 CAD + Eligibility for Profit Sharing Program Participation (pending successful completion of probationary period and based on business performance)

- This is a hybrid position based out of our Burnaby, BC headquarters. To support our collaborative model, preference will be given to local candidates that are able to work in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
